Below are just a few ideas of inexpensive games and activities you can create for outdoor summer parties.

• Musical Chairs –  Using your plastic patio chairs and a music CD, have fun playing musical chairs.
• Create a Treasure Hunt – Let the guests break into teams and leave clues for finding the hidden treasure.
• Relay Races –  Sack Races, Three Legged Races or carrying an egg on a spoon are all great competitive games to host.
• Caterpillar Hunt – Hide short pieces of different colored wool around the yard. Let the little ones gather the wool and the one who finds the most “wool caterpillars” wins.
• Hidden Gummy Bears – Lots of children and adults for that matter like Gummy Bears. Give each contestant a paper plate filled with whipped cream and two or three gummies hidden in the whip cream. No hands allowed.
• Ring Toss – Make it a jumbo ring by using a hula hoop and have guests try and throw them around a safe wooden pole sunk into the lawn.
• Limbo – A game for children and adults. You create the game with two people on each end of a broom stick.
• Water Balloon Toss – Great way to stay cool and have fun is to have guests toss a water balloon to each other. The team that ends up tossing the balloon the most distance between without it breaking wins the game.
