Thrifty Florist May 31st will be Memorial Day and while there will be parades, barbeques and other activates, the real reason for this day is honor those military persons that have fought to protect our freedoms.  Officially named a federal holiday in 1971, Memorial Day was in earlier years referred to as Decoration Day and started after the Civil War.
